A spectacular BRIT Awards 2009 took place at Earls Court Exhibition center last 18 February and Duffy, the Welsh singer  dominated, winning 3 major prizes beating Coldplay and Radiohead for best album.

 

The BRIT Awards is the rebel cousin of the awards show family, a live show unpredictable and where you never know what to expect. Every year musicians exhibit live on the stage for a big audience and for millions of viewers on the TV.

 

Other Live Performances have included:Estelle and the Ting Tings, Pet Shop Boys, Girls Aloud, King Of Leon, Take That and U2.  

 

The group Pet Shop Boys  returned yesterday to the show after their first BRIT in 1987 when they won as Best British Single for West End Girls and this year have taken home  a prize as Outstanding Contribution to Music. The duo formed by  Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe has sold 50 million records since they signed to Parlophone in 1985 becoming one of the most successful and influencing pop duos of the modern era.

They have also worked as producers or remixers with artists including Robbie Williams, Liza Minnelli, David Bowie, Madonna, Kylie, Yoko Ono andThe Killers

Previous recipients of the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award include Paul McCartney, Oasis, U2, Paul Weller, Tom Jones, Sting. David Bowie, Eurythmics, The Beatles and The Who.

 

 

 

Other winners of 2009 are Paul Weller as best British male solo artist and the best group award by Mercury Prize winners Elbow, Katy Perry, who won best international female.
