For those of you who have not yet been to Iceland, do not miss the opportunity to make a first acquaintance with the country by visiting London 's only Icelandic restaurant, Texture, whose chef is Reykjavik born Agnar Sverrisson.  Joining forces with French born Xavier Rousset, an exceptional sommelier, the two founded Texture in 2007 after meeting and working together at Raymond Blanc 's Le Manoir aux Quat ' Saisons.

The restaurant is set in a beautiful Georgian building and the modern and light shaded design blends wonderfully with the original features of both the Champagne Bar and the Restaurant.  Texture has been awarded one Michelin star as well as other prizes and regularly features in magazines and newspapers with outstanding reviews. 

However, be prepared for a serious cuisine with appropriate prizes : this is not what you would call a casual meal!  The chef celebrates his cooking and the guests are expected to be worshippers of his art.  Admittedly, art it is.  The purest, finest ingredients make for delicacies that touch your senses, flavours that are intense and authentic.  Signature dishes of the modern European menu are the tomato and artichoke texture or the Icelandic cod or lamb.

The culinary adventure at Texture is a unique experience and may entice you to finally make the trip to Reykjavik.  If you can actually find comparable quality and gourmet pleasures in the Icelandic capital, remains to be seen.
