In Autumn 2010

Covent Garden saw the opening of a new boutique where music has merged with fashion in what has become a traditional marriage over the years engaged by many rock stars designing clothes or models wanting to sing.  In this case, Lucy in Disguise was born, the shop created by the successful and controversial pop singer Lily Allen and her sister.

It is a very personal enterprise, not only by the fact that it is family run, but more because it translates the singer s own taste.  She is known for her individuality and non-conformism and has tred haute couture ground previously when she acted as muse to Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel.

Her preference for vintage clothes is mirrored in the shop where items are hand picked by the two sisters.  Alongside those pieces you can find selected brands from Paris or New York as well as fashion designed by Allen herself.

Shopping will certainly reach a new dimension with drinks from the all-day vodka bar and recently Lucy in Disguise has been expanding: the basement now houses a blow dry and make up bar.  All very retro and very chic.

This project is not a one-off.  A shop has been launched inside Harrods and the girls are considering turning the shop into a chain.

Lily Allen has apparently decided to quit music and swap her career for the fashion world.  Her first steps in this direction are more than promising and, though we will miss her songs, she could have done worse.  We wish her luck!
