 Published on 24th September 2009 STYLE CITY is the first book to tell the inside story of how fashion developed in Britain from the early 1970s when designer fashion scarcely existed, to the present day when London ranks alongside Paris, New York and Milan as a global fashion capital.

Born as celebration of the 25th Anniversary of British fashion the book tells through interviews with the iconic designers such as Paul Smith, Jasper Conran, Katharine Hamnett, Antonio Berardi, Betty Jackson, Vogue editor Alexandra Shulmanm as well as through amazing 200 illustrations and photographs showing the protagonists of the fashion industry without forgetting a description of influences exerted by the music, the clubs, the parties and the designers with their clothes.

Among the outstanding designers produced by the last 25 years of  British fashion stand John Galliano, Alexander Mc Queen, Stella McCartney.

 

Something about the author ? Robert O'Byrne, previously Fashion Correspondent of The Irish Times, has spent many years in the fashion world, close to the people and events covered by this book. Today he is frequent contributor to british newspaper and magazines.

 

He has worked with the consultancy of Annette Worsley-Taylor - founder of the London Designer Collections in 1975 - she has played a key role in the promotion of British designers. She was Creative and Marketing Director and Consultant to the British Fashion Council for Fashion Week from 1993 to 2006. In 2002 she was made an MBE for services to British fashion.
